DESCRIPTION:Master has arranged the following delights for the Livery W/E 2024 in the City of Cambridge and both he and Gill look forward to welcoming you over the week-end of the 20th -21st April. \nHotel Accommodation has been provisionally reserved at The Graduate Hotel minutes away from the main attractions. \nA quality hotel on the banks of the River Cam and in the heart of city\, with gardens\, a large central bar and lots of comfy chairs and sofas on which to sit to chill out. From the moment you walk through the main reception doors\, you’ll be immersed in the local culture and charm that’s unique to Cambridge. From the DNA double helix light above the front desk\, an homage to Cambridge alumni Rosalind Franklin\, to the lovingly restored\, 100-year-old punting boats that adorn the lobby walls. Whilst delivering an in-depth and interesting description of its history\, the tour will cover some of the city’s best-known features such as the Market Square\, the Corpus Clock\, Kings Parade along with some of the many colleges. \nMeet in the Hotel lobby at 11am. \nCost: £16p.p. \nThe rest of the day is free to explore. \nSaturday Eventing:Black Tie Dinner at The Old Hall\, Queen’s College at 7pm \nDrinks reception\, three course meal\, coffee and chocolates. \nDating from 1448 the Old Hall retains many historic features. Yes\, you can climb the tower\, a feat that will reward you with an incredible view of the city. \nOpen top bus tour: enjoy unlimited hop on hop off for 24 hours with your ticket. Discover key sights\, including the famous colleges and the unmissable American Cemetery in nearby Madingley. Starting point is Queens’ College Porter’s Lodge (approx. 7 mins walk from our hotel). Highly recommended. \nThe Eagle Pub: Built in 1667. Regulars have included James Watson\, Francis Crick and Rosalind Franklin who discovered DNA and celebrated that phenomenon here and hundreds of WW2 RAF pilots who left behind a wall of messages in the hope they were never forgotten. \nFitzbillies Tea Shop: famous for their amazing Chelsea Buns!
