This year, breaking with tradition, the Annual Banquet was held out of the City of London.  Master, being a northern lass, chose The Lowry at Salford Docks, near MediaCity, as the venue for this regional event, closer to some of our more Northern members and many attended.  Thank you.

The Lowry is a stylish, modern building and home to the Gallery dedicated to the drawings and paintings of LS Lowry, an English artist best known for depicting urban landscapes often with “matchstick men” in the industrial districts of Pendlebury, Greater Manchester and Salford where he lived and worked for forty years.

Guests were welcomed to a Reception in the Gallery where they could view leisurely the “matchstick men” whilst enjoying a glass of bubbles.  Amongst our guests we were delighted to welcome members of the Brigantes, the Association of City of London Liverymen living in the North, Past Masters of the Clockmakers and Tax Advisors.

The Principal guest, Mr David McGovern, a Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of His Majesty for Greater Manchester, welcomed us all enthusiastically to his beloved hometown, regaling us with amusing historical anecdotes.

At the end of the formalities, entertainment was provided by local singer/entertainer, Sarah Dennis, who managed to prise several guests out of their chairs and onto the dancefloor, all great fun and enjoyed by all.

The Annual Banquet is the last Company event of a Master’s year in office, this year finishing on the 3rd July, when the Court will install Senior Warden, Simon Fordham as Master for 2023 to 2024 and we look forward to welcoming you to the Hall for another superb evening.
