On 23rd April my Clerk and I attended a St. George’s Day luncheon, courtesy of the Watermen and Lightermen’s Company at their lovely Hall. Also a day to remember as the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to their new baby, Prince Louis Arthur Charles!!

Three days later, my Lady and I dined with the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners at the Mansion House, where I had the pleasure of chatting with a former Captain of one of our Polaris Nuclear Submarines during the Cold War.

11th May was our Annual Banquet, wonderfully organised by our Clerk and held this year at Armoury House, the home of The Honourable Artillery Company in City Road London. We were entertained by the British Imperial Military Band and as luck would have it, the weather held fine allowing us to hold our reception on the parade ground before excellent dining in the ‘Long Room’. We were delighted to have as our guest speaker, Ms Jenny Kleeman and host the Masters from the Worshipful Companies of Hackney Carriage Drivers, Glaziers, Environmental Cleaners, Lightmongers and Constructors.

The location is very special to me as I spent the first four years of my life living there and the rugby pitches were my playground!

On 3rd June I will be at Southwark Cathedral attending a memorial service for the Terrorist attack last year.

How fast the year has gone!
