Autumn has flown by and it is nearly Christmas, so a quick round-up of what I’ve been up to…

October, I chaired my first Court Meeting at the Hall with a number of issues being vividly discussed! I also then had the opportunity to attend a dinner with the Lord Mayor Elect, who outlined his plans for the coming year with most of the Masters and Masters Elect of the City Livery Companies present. It was a very enjoyable evening hosted by the Master of the Chartered Accountants at their Hall and I even bumped into a chap who I played rugby with up at Oxford.

November saw the LADAs at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, which we again sponsored and where a number of our Past Masters sit on the Jury deciding the prizes. I had the honour of presenting the prize for the Laundry Manager of the Year to Anthony Proctor of Salisbury Linen Services.

This week saw our flagship event, the Annual Carol Service in Southwark Cathedral, with more than a hundred people present and where, along with the other Wardens, I read one of the lessons. This was followed by an excellent Christmas Dinner at the Hall with over 80 people seated in the River Room, enjoying a very convivial evening and a view of the City.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025.
